Ways to Reduce Filter Costs

**Clean the pre-filter regularly.** A clogged pre-filter forces more particles into the HEPA layer, shortening HEPA life. Cleaning every 2-4 weeks can extend HEPA replacement intervals from 12 months to 18-24 months.

**Use auto mode.** Running at max speed continuously burns filters faster (more airflow, more particle loading). Auto mode preserves filter life during low-pollution hours.

**Buy filters from the manufacturer or reputable third parties.** Third-party filter quality varies. For HEPA filters, look for ones that specify the same H12 or H13 grade as the OEM filter. Avoid filters that only say "compatible with" without specifying filtration grade.

**Time replacements to indoor conditions.** If you run the purifier heavily during wildfire season or high-pollen months, filters load faster. Check filter condition (airflow reduction, visible discoloration) rather than just following a fixed calendar schedule.
